As part of Pilbara Ports’ support for the Western Australian Industry Participation Strategy (WAIPS) and Aboriginal Procurement Policy (APP), Pilbara Ports encourages head contractors and tenderers for the Lumsden Point works packages to provide opportunities to Indigenous and local businesses within the Pilbara.

Lumsden Point will be delivered in multiple work packages. Packages underway are listed below. This list will be updated as the project progresses.
Construct seawalls around the wharf area.
Completed April 2024.
Dredge the Lumsden access channel, swing basin and berth pockets.
Dredging completed December 2024, demobilisation and surveys underway,
Widen the existing temporary causeway, creating a road and services corridor linking the wharf area with the logistics hub.

Construct a grade-separated interchange between Lumsden Point, the Great Northern Highway and Wedgefield (Pinga St).
