Penalties may apply for MSICs not returned. The penalty is 10 units. Each penalty unit is worth A$222.

If you change your name, your MSIC ceases to be valid one month after the day on which the name change is made.

If you are convicted of any criminal offences by the courts (that are listed on the maritime relevant offence list) while you hold an MSIC, you must declare them to AusCheck within seven days.
