Visiting the Port

To gain unescorted access to the Landside Restricted Zone a person must have:

• A Maritime Security Identification Card
• Successfully completed Pilbara Ports' site induction
• Submitted a completed site access application form
• Submitted a clear drug and alcohol test, that is less than 30 days old

People who do not meet these criteria are classified as a visitor and must be escorted by a person who has unrestricted access.
 

The following people must be escorted by a person who has unrestricted site access:

• Those who do not have a Maritime Security Identification Card
• Those who have not completed a site induction
• Those who have not completed a site access form

Failure to comply with these conditions may result in visitors being permanently removed from Pilbara Ports property.

Escorted visitors must:

• Swipe their visitor access card on all swipe card entry readers
• Not perform manual labour on a Pilbara Ports site
• Not use tools or other machinery

Individuals who are not entitled to unrestricted site access are limited to five escorted visits within a 12 month period. In exceptional circumstances, an extension to the maximum five escorted visits per Pilbara Ports site may be sought from the Harbour Master or delegate, Security Superintendent or Security Supervisor. These personnel can be contacted through the Security Gatehouse.

Any visitor may have up to three escorts, allowing them some flexibility whilst on site.

Crew who do not possess a Maritime Security Identification Card and have not completed the Pilbara Ports site induction are regarded as visitors and must be escorted at all times.

The only exception to this rule is if crews are attending to routine ship duties. When attending to ship duties, crew are to remain in the immediate vicinity of the vessel.

It is the responsibility of the agents to ensure that ship crews are aware:

• Their details must be submitted to the Safety and Security Services Building before entering the Landside Restricted Zone
• They will be denied access to the Landside Restricted Zone until the Safety and Security Services Building receives their details
• They must sign out before leaving the Landside Restricted Zone if they intend to return to their vessel
• They may leave the Landside Restricted Zone without signing out at the Safety and Security Services Building if they are not returning to their vessel
• They must be in possession of photographic identification at all times
