Dredging activities will take place at the Port of Dampier from October 2024 – May 2025.
During this period, split hopper barges will be towed via tugboat to the East Lewis Island Spoil Ground.
Dredge material will be disposed at the spoil ground, resulting in changes to depths during operations.
The sailing route shown below will be utilised 24 hours a day, meaning vessels will transit during both daytime and nighttime hours.
Skippers are advised to stay well clear of the spoil ground during disposal and dredging activities and only cross the sailing route when safe to do so.
Diving or other activities on the spoil ground is not advised at any time during the works.
If unsure, contact the Vessel Traffic Services Centre via the contact details below.
This dredging campaign is part of stage one of the Dampier Cargo Wharf Projects, creating a multi-user facility that expands the capability of the Port of Dampier.
