Spoilbank Marina

The delivery of the $187.5 million Spoilbank Marina project will create a vibrant new amenity for the Port Hedland community and visitors to enjoy. It will also improve access and safety for recreational boaters.

The project is managed and delivered by Pilbara Ports, in collaboration with the Department of Transport, DevelopmentWA, Pilbara Development Commission, BHP and the Town of Port Hedland. 

The Spoilbank Marina project is funded by the State Government, Town of Port Hedland and BHP. 

Opening event announced

The Premier of Western Australia Hon Roger Cook has announced that Spoilbank Marina will officially open at 5.30pm on Friday, 29 November 2024, as part of a whole-of-community celebration event. View the full release here. 

The opening will give the Hedland community and visitors a first look at the new marina, which will include a vibrant community space and improve safety for recreational boaties.

The Town of Port Hedland will be delivering the Spoilbank Marina Sunset Celebration opening event. Further details are available via their website.

• A four-lane boat ramp;

• Boat pens;
• Separate entrance channel to the main shipping channel;
• Trailer parking for vehicles;
• Maintenance hardstand;
• Publicly accessible breakwaters with pedestrian path;
• Public recreation and event space and public amenities;
• Waterfront promenade; and
• Public art and a cultural gathering space.
