Revamped Main Street Jetty to open in May

Date published: 29 Mar, 2018 | Pilbara Ports Authority
Port Hedland’s Main Street Jetty will be upgraded in coming weeks and users will be able to enjoy the revamped facility from late May.

Pilbara Ports Authority will be conducting essential maintenance in April and May, and upgrading the facility to meet Australian Standards for public infrastructure, which includes wheelchair access.

The existing steel walkway and hand rails on the upper deck will be replaced with a solid grid mesh walkway and new hand rails. New lighting will also be installed.

The jetty piles will be cleaned and wrapped. The lower level of the jetty will be cleaned and painted.

The jetty will be closed from 9 April to 23 May 2018. The carpark will be closed from 9 April to 14 April and again from 17 May to 23 May to enable the safe removal and installation of the jetty panels.

Pilbara Ports Authority apologises for any inconvenience during the closure.

These works will be the first significant upgrades to the Main Street Jetty since it was originally installed in 2000.
