The Port of Balla Balla was declared under the Port Authorities Act 1999 on 24 December 2020.
Located approximately 100km east of Anketell Point and 120km south-west of Port Hedland, Balla Balla has been earmarked as the location for a new multi-user transhipment port for the export of iron ore.
The foundation proponent will establish port export facilities for up to 50 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of direct shipping ore and associated support infrastructure including rail, stockyards, conveyors, causeway and a jetty.
The proposed Port of Anketell will be a multi-user 350mtpa bulk commodities export port with capacity for heavy industry exports, general cargo and fuel import, as well as supply base activities to service offshore operations.
The proposed Port of Anketell will be co-located with Port Walcott. Detailed descriptions of the land and infrastructure required to support development opportunities, along with future concept plans, are presented in the Port of Anketell Port Master Plan 2014.
The plan was a collaborative effort between the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation and Pilbara Ports, and has been endorsed by the Premier of Western Australia
Located approximately 70km south-west of Karratha adjacent to CITIC-Pacific’s Sino Iron Project, Cape Preston East has been earmarked as the location for a new multi-user transhipment port for the export of iron ore and other bulk minerals.
The Port of Cape Preston West was declared under the Port Authorities Act 1999 on 2 December 2022.
Located approximately 40km south-west of Cape Preston East, Cape Preston West has been earmarked as the location for a new multi-user port for the export of salt and other bulk minerals.
The foundation project will establish new port facilities for the export of solar salt and potash.
Located approximately 25km west of the Port of Ashburton, Urala has been earmarked as the location for a new multi-user port for the export of salt and other bulk minerals.
The foundation project will establish a transhipment facility for the export of solar salt.
